The Munsterplatz square itself is a masterpiece, especially when adorned with dazzling decorations, it’s like stepping into a Christmas fairy tale. 

Twinkling lights, festive stalls, and train rides for children in an enchanted forest create a magical atmosphere.

A short stroll away lies Barfusserplatz, the vibrant square houses are the second-largest market. It will take only 5 minutes from Munsterplatz. 

Basel’s charm shines through here, making it a standout destination.

In particular, this market has tons of artisan vendors that you will not find anywhere else.

I really loved having fondue here inside a real gondola. It is the only Switzerland type of experience.

Christmas Market Of Montreux

The second Christmas market on my list is Montreux. Heading to the shores of Lake Geneva, you arrive in Montreux.

This town is known for its breathtaking Christmas scenery. This takes place from November 21st to December 24th, 2024.

No Christmas season in Switzerland is complete without a visit to Montreux. 

The Montreux Christmas market, set against the backdrop of the lake and the Swiss Alps, is a true spectacle.

You can enjoy a winter wonderland featuring over 150 vendors offering a variety of gifts, snacks, and drinks.

But the magic doesn’t stop there. Look up to the sky above Lake Geneva, and you’ll see a flying Santa Claus riding above the market across the lake every hour – a spectacle not to be missed.

And the Christmas magic continues with an unforgettable journey to the Rochers de Naye, a nearby summit. 

Where a North Pole workshop with Santa Claus awaits to greet children.

There’s no better Christmas feeling than sipping mulled wine as you stroll through the market, with the festive lights reflecting off the lake’s calm waters.

Christmas Market Of Zurich

Zurich is the largest city in Switzerland and, with its blend of modernity and tradition, offers a Christmas experience like no other.

The markets are expected to be open from November 21 to December 23, 2024. 

One of the world’s most beautiful shopping streets, Bahnhofstrasse, is filled with countless Christmas lights and festive decorations.

Start your Zurich Christmas adventure at the Opernhaus in Bellevueplatz. It’s a picturesque market filled with treats, drinks, and gifts.

After you finish at this market, cross the river to discover two more Christmas markets by the Grossmunster and Fraumunster Cathedrals.

The final market to check out in Zurich is the Christmas market inside the main train station. Don’t miss this market if you are in Zurich. 

With 140 stalls, this is one of the largest indoor Christmas markets in Europe.

Finally, right across from the train station, head to the Landesmuseum. The courtyard is decked out for the illuminarium. And the exterior courtyard is 100% free.

I love its authentic old-town charm, which is the perfect backdrop for a magical setting.

Rudolf’s Christmas market is by far the most popular and is conveniently located just a 2-minute walk from the Lucerne train station.

Eating and drinking are definitely the priorities at Rudolf’s Christmas market.

You can also visit the pop-up fondue chalet, which has a wonderful cozy atmosphere.

But if you are interested in shopping for gifts, then head to the Christmas market at Franziskanerplatz, which has a variety of stalls to browse.

Christmas Market Of Lausanne
