Among these activities, mountain coasters are exciting experiences that allow you to race down alpine slopes.
So, today I will talk about the top mountain coasters in Switzerland.
Each provides a unique experience while enjoying the stunning panoramic views of the Swiss Alps.

Frakigaudi Summer Toboggan
The Frakigaudi Summer Toboggan is close to Lucerne and right next to the Pilatus Kulm.
This toboggan run has one of the best views of Lake Lucerne. It is one of the longest toboggan runs in Switzerland.
You can get there by taking a bus from Lucerne to Kriens and from Kriens, take the Pilatus gondola to Frakmuntegg intermediary station.
It is open daily in dry weather from April to mid-October, from 10 am to 5 pm. I do recommend arriving because they tend to close the toboggan run exactly at 5 pm.
One ride is priced at 9 Francs for adults and 5 to 7 Francs for kids, depending on the age.
Brunni Summer Toboggan
The Brunni Summer Toboggan is located in Engelberg of Brunni.
You can get there with a direct 45-minute train ride from Lucerne and then walk or take a free bus to the Brunni gondola.
It is open from early May to early November and typically closes between 4:30 & 5:30 pm in the afternoon, depending on the season.
It costs 5 Francs for one ride and becomes cheaper if you buy more tickets.
This is a great addition to a day trip to the Klettersteig mountain from Lucerne.
Oeschinensee Rodelbahn
The Oeschinensee Rodelbahn is right next to the Oeschinensee Lake, one of the most beautiful lakes in Switzerland.
The Oeschinensee Rodelbahn is located near the gondola station coming from Kandersteg and 15 minutes away from the magnificent Oeschinensee Lake.
To get there from Interlaken, take the train to Spiez, and from there take another to Kandersteg. Also, a direct train from Bern will take you there as well.
The toboggan run is open daily from mid-May to mid-October, from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm. One ride costs 6 Francs.
I recommend going there to enjoy the beautiful Oeschinensee Lake and Oeschinensee Rodelbahn also.
Alpine Coaster – Glacier 3000
The Alpine Coaster is right next to Gstaad and Montreux and is the highest-situated on this list.
It is actually the highest-situated toboggan run in the world. You will have views of the Diablerets Glacier and experience the peak walk after the coaster experience.
To get there, you can take a bus from Gstaad if you are in this beautiful valley or book on GetYourGuide, a bus transfer from Montreux.
The Alpine Coaster is only open in the summer from May to September.
The price is 9 Francs per ride regardless of age.
Monte Tamaro Coaster Bob
The Monte Tamaro Coaster Bob is in the Italian part of Switzerland. It is next to Lugano and Locarno.
In the beautiful canton of Ticino, you can ride the Monte Tamaro Coaster Bob.
To access Monte Tamaro Coaster Bob from Lugano, you’ll take the train to Rivera Bironico station, which takes about 15 minutes.
The two-seater mountain coaster is perfect for families with young children as you can comfortably sit and ride together.
This coaster costs 5 Francs and children under seven are free. It’s open from late March to early November.
Rodelbahn Pfingstegg
The Rodelbahn Pfingstegg is right next to Grindelwald and Interlaken.
In the heart of the Jungfrau region is the Rodelbahn Pfingstegg, conveniently accessible from the Grindelwald village.
You’ll experience a fast toboggan ride through the colorful alpine and hillside while enjoying the scenic mountain views along the way.
The toboggan run is open in the summer from May to mid-October. It costs 8 Francs for adults with discounts for children.
Also, you have Fly Line activity that is available right next to the toboggan run.
Gurten Rodelbahn
The Gurten Rodelbahn is next to Bern on a beautiful hill. It is located only a few minutes away from the city center of Bern.
You can take the funicular, which will take you up the hill, either by train to the Wabern bei Bern train station or tram 9 at the Gurtenbahn stop.
You will have a beautiful view of Bern, the Federal Palace, and the old town from the Gurten.
The ride costs 5 Francs for adults and 4 Francs for kids and is free under seven if they are accompanied by an adult or a teen.
The Gurten Rodelbahn is open daily from mid-March to early November: Monday to Friday 1 pm to 6 pm and Saturday & Sunday 10 am to 6 pm.
Another fun activity for kids next to the toboggan run is the miniature train that kids can ride.
Feeblitz Rodelbobbahn
If you want to ride a mountain coaster in the winter, then Feeblitz Rodelbobbahn is for you.
In the heart of the mountain village Saas-Fee, you’ll find the Feeblitz Rodelbobbahn. This mountain coaster is on a track and starts off with the steepest incline of any mountain coaster in Switzerland.
It costs 7.50 Francs for one ride and is free for children under eight. This exciting mountain coaster opens in both summer and winter seasons.
It opens from late December through late April for the winter season and again from July through October for the summer season.
Moleson Bob-luge
The Moleson Bob-luge is located in the French part of Switzerland and right next to the beautiful little city of Gruyeres.
You can get to the Moleson Bob-luge directly from Gruyeres by bus 263, which leaves every hour.
The Moleson Bob-luge is on a track and goes into the forest with quite a 360° turn. It is open in the summer, typically from May until October.
It costs 6 Francs for one ride and becomes cheaper if you buy multiple tickets. It’s even free for children between the ages of 3 to 7.
And there is also a mountain cart activity right next to the toboggan run.
Adventure Mountain Pradaschier
The Adventure Mountain Pradaschier is located in Pradaschier next to Chur.
This mountain coaster is the longest one in Switzerland on a track.
Through 31 curves and with an altitude difference of 480 m (1574.8 ft) from start to finish, the mountain coaster is more than 3000 m (9842.5 ft) long.
This ride lasts from 5 to 7 minutes.
With this information, I recommend those of you who want to ride fast to take your time after the last rider left for any of these toboggan runs in order to maximize the amount of thrill time you’ll have.
This toboggan can be ridden in summer as well as winter. It’s open from December to early April and from early May to mid-October.
The toboggan run costs 18 Francs on top of the chairlift prices.
You’ll have other adventure activities to experience nearby, such as a zipline and a rope park.
