I am presenting to you one of the best ski resorts in Switzerland, Flumserberg.
Flumserberg is a popular Swiss ski resort located in the canton of St. Gallen.
Due to its central location, Flumserberg has been very popular for decades, especially among people who just want to go for a one-day skiing adventure.
In this article, you will get to know how to ski in this panoramic resort and what the best assets are.
Let’s go and ski together!

Location And Accessibility
Flumserberg is beautifully situated right up to Lake Walen (Walensee). Just an hour’s drive from Zurich, it’s easily accessible by car or train.
You have to take a scenic cable car ride from Unterterzen up to the Tannenboden.
The go-to spot to start your skiing day is Tannenboden. From there, you may take the gondola right up to the Maschgenkamm.
When you arrive here, you have pretty much access to all parts of the ski resort.
The Ski Resort
Flumserberg is not among the largest ski resorts in Switzerland but makes it the best use of the space it has.
There are various tracks that you can take, giving you plenty of options for skiing.
Head over to the Leist, which is an amazing black slope. You need to head over to Grueb to access the highest elevation of this ski resort at the Leist.
The Leist is at 2222 meters (7290 feet). The panorama there is really fantastic. You can see Lake Waklensee, the seven peaks called “Churfirsten”, and in the background, the iconic Mount Santis.
From the Leist, you may access the Panuol, Grueb, and Seeben. First, go to Seeben, taking the black slope that is considered a difficult level.
From Seeben, you will have to take a lift to cross over to Arve or Tannenboden.
To cross over to the Panuol, you may either take the track down from Maschgenkamm. However, the Leist track is more enjoyable.
From the Leist, you may enjoy the fantastic long track to Plattis and Panuol.
There are generally fewer people around here, although I would consider this one of the best tracks you can take in this ski resort.
After that, head over to Prodalp and you’ll find fantastic white slopes that are just perfect for skiing. The site is generally pretty sunny and also easy to ski.
Over here, you’ll have a couple of tracks that you may take. The snow park with ramps and rails is really cool and good for you to practice your tricks.
Special Tracks
When you’re again back from Prodalp, do also try out these two slopes that I consider my favorites in the ski resort.
First, the wonderful track through the miraculous pine tree forest. It leads you from Maschgenkamm down to Tannenboden. It looks very enchanting, especially after snowfall.
Then, the track right above the Tannenboden. The track goes through a forest called “The Forest of the Witch”.
Haxawaldli is a really nice track taking you through a mystical pine tree forest. What’s even better is there are many ways to get through it.
If you are an expert skier, then you definitely try out these two tracks.
Other Activities
Those who do not ski may come up to Flimserberg for sledding. There’s a toboggan run taking you from Prodalp to Tannenheim.
Also, snowshoeing offers a peaceful way to experience the winter wonderland. You can do snowshoeing with marked trails guiding you through serene landscapes.
Enjoy the numerous winter hiking trails with your family that give you a chance to immerse yourself in nature.
Gruebhutte Restaurant
Don’t forget to have lunch at Gruebhutte. The food is really delicious in this restaurant.
The prices are moderate and all in all, it is going to be a very authentic dining experience here in the Alps.
Hotel Tannenboden
If you plan to stay in Flumserberg for a couple of days, then I can recommend Hotel Tannenboden.
It’s very family-friendly, prices are moderate, and the food is really good. The rooms are cozy and very clean.
From the hotel, you can get a stunning view. Make sure to wake up for the sunrise; it’s going to be spectacular.
The Churfirsten are glowing in the sunlight and Lake Walensee is covered by a sea of clouds.
Tips For You
The best time to visit Flumserberg for skiing is from December to April when the snow conditions are perfect.
Book accommodation and ski passes in advance, especially during the peak seasons.
