The GoldenPass Express train links the charming lakeside town of Montreux to Interlaken.

This is a direct train journey that takes just 3 hours and 16 minutes.

Previously, this would have taken multiple connections and more time, but thanks to an impressive feat of Swiss engineering, one single train is now able to adjust seamlessly to ride along different track widths on this varying route for one continuous journey.

One of the outstanding features of the GoldenPass Express is its panoramic windows.

You can enjoy unobstructed views of the surrounding landscapes and the beauty of Switzerland through these large windows.

Do you remember that viral video with Roger Federer and Trevor Noah? Well, you guessed it. That was filmed on this train.

Prestige Class

I suggest splurging for the prestige class. This ultra-premium cabin offers comfortable, spacious seats.

They have automatic recline, a leg rest, heated leather, and outlets at all the seats. This train’s seat can swivel up to 180° for the best views.

The cabin itself is really spacious; there’s plenty of room to store your bags, but no luggage racks or overhead bins in the prestige class.

So, if you have large luggage, you need to put it in the other part of the carriage on the luggage racks near the door.

Not only is this train beautifully designed, but the service is top-notch too. You can order beautifully plated and very tasty aperos, platters, and drinks.

Highlights Along The Journey

While the train amenities are impressive, the real star of the show is the stunning panoramic views.

The views along the way are incredibly stunning. You’ll pass through Switzerland’s lakes, and Alpine valleys.

Don’t miss the medieval castle Chateau de Chillon, located on the shores of Lake Geneva.

Wine enthusiasts will love the opportunity to explore the Lavaux Vineyards, a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Also, a stop in Gstaad offers a glimpse into a world of elegance and luxury.
